<Player1>
You know the kind where people hurt each other, but they like it?
What can you tell me about that?
<LarryLaffer>
[This is, thankfully, something he does have experience in, and not something he has to bluff about.]
Where do you want me to start? There's lots of ground to cover with that one.
<Player1>
But he doesn't want it getting out what he's doing. So, he supposes, it's okay if Larry thinks he's a masochist. This is for your sake, Mr. Detective.]
How do you do that kind of thing safely, so that everyone has a good time and no one feels bad about themselves?
And when you're trying to find a partner, what should you look for?
<LarryLaffer>
That doesn't mean he doesn't know how to do it the right way.
So he's gonna do the right thing, and tell Yugi how to do it by the books. He's young, god damn it, and Larry of all people is not going to tell him to abstain, because he knows that's not going to happen. If he's gonna go out and do stuff like this, he must be equipped with the knowledge to do it safely.]
Well, first off, it doesn't need to be reciprocal. You're going to find people that like pain, people who don't like pain...and you'll find people who like to give pain, and people who don't want to give pain. You'll have to talk to your partner(s) to find out what category they fall into.
If you have someone that doesn't want to receive or give pain, you'll have to negotiate what's acceptable, but go into it expecting that they might not want to veer into that territory at all. Don't worry, though. I'm sure you'll be able to find something else to connect with! :o)
If you have a partner that does like to give or receive pain, you'll always have to keep in mind that everyone's threshold is different. They might not even know what theirs is. If they do know, they can simply offer that knowledge to you. If not, you'll have to spend some time experimenting outside of the heat of the moment. You can start with spanking, slapping, biting, pinching, and escalate by using implements like switches and paddles.
<Player1>
For someone as into punishment as the other Yugi is, the idea of paddles and switches in a bedroom still makes him blush hotly in self-consciousness. But! He's got to do this research, and Larry knows what he's talking about.]
So...it's the kind of thing that only comes up in relationships that are already established?
[If so, that'll make this harder....]
<LarryLaffer>
[He's such a hypocrite. He's never done negotiation in his life, but that's because he's all too happy to jump into the deep end and throw all caution to the wind.]
<Player1>
Is there anything else I should know? Any signs someone's going to be bad news that I can look for early on?
[Because he's going to be screening applicants, not vetting them personally.]
<LarryLaffer>
I know this is is really subjective, but: listen to your gut.
Sometimes you'll run across people and they'll give you a bad vibe. You won't be able to pin down why they're giving you a bad vibe, but that doesn't mean you should shrug it off. It's better safe than sorry.
<Player1>
Thanks for your help! It's good to have somebody like you to ask about things like this. Anonymously asking the network could've turned up all kinds of nonsense -- there's plenty of people on it I don't trust!
[It might have gotten him tons of activity coins, though...]
<LarryLaffer>
And I'm hardly a certified expert on any of this -- just really, really experienced. Maybe someone out there is an actual sex therapist or sex ed teacher, who knows!
Worst case scenario, it'd be good for a few laughs.
<Player1>
[Trouble is, he can't, because he's under 18 and the game's real players can see who makes network posts, even when they're "anonymous," and the person pressing buttons for the other Yugi wants this interest in BDSM research to fly under the radar.
But he'll never know that's part of his programming.]
<LarryLaffer>
[Larry will, unfortunately, be ever supportive of the poorest decision, regardless of what level of meta is driving it.]
Oh -- and don't forget: Always wear your lubber.
[He's gonna go ahead for the deep cut reference here since he knows that Yugi investigated his games in the museum.]
<Player1>
He'll shoot the reference back:]
And you're a pervert! But you're a good guy to know.
